Russia may face gas supply crisis in 2 years – Gref

According to (peakoil) : en.rian.ru

MOSCOW, September 6 (RIA Novosti) – A crisis of natural gas supplies may hit Russia in two years, the economic development and trade minister said Wednesday.

German Gref said last fall Russia was facing energy problems.

“I do not want to frighten anyone, but I think a similar problem may emerge with gas in a couple of years,” he said today addressing a government council on competitiveness and entrepreneurship.

Gref said independent gas producers should be encouraged by creating transparent conditions for investors’ access to the national pipeline system.

Energy consumption levels in the Russian capital rose to historic highs last winter as the cold snap reached its peak in January-February, when temperatures in Moscow were periodically dropping as low as -32°C (-25.6°F).

Moscow energy utility Mosenergo was forced to cut supplies to some industrial and commercial consumers in order to maintain power and heat deliveries to residential customers and critical services.

-Good Grief, an admission from the honest Russian Trade Minster!!! This means they are fending off exporting LNG to more countries OR justify a higher priced LNG. Next Stop, Australia, Qatar, IRAN?

p.s. Looks like the hopes for Russian LNG supplies is dashed?

[...] -The ultimate conclusion for this is Norway peaking in oil production and will soon goes into terminal decline thus a switch to exporting natural gas soon. Norway also defended Russia for their actions for their actions to briefly shut down gas exports to Ukraine because of the price dispute. While Russia recently announced that Russia might face gas supply crisis in 2 years signify that their only alternative is to import Turkey gas supply (at higher price) to resell to Ukraine at the disputed price instead of directly export from Russia. My analysis is that the Russian’s remaining gas had to be reserved (at all cost) naturally for local domestic use (Cheaper then importing later). [...]
