Videos: My LED Lights (Solar Charged)

Toilet LEDs

The solar panels managed to keep my LED running for about 5 months now and lighting is pretty bright actually but it does look dark in the digital camera :)

This is just a tiny steps to using full scale renewable energy as there are much more plans to increase my project size to fully use renewable energy for my electrical appliances.

I will continue to find out ways to improve on the design so that it will be more efficient in future.

Let’s check out another video of mine on the LED lights this time it’s at my living room.

The digital camera from my mobile phone is not strong enough to capture the full brightness of my LED lights hence it does look pretty dark haha…No worries! My buddy Peter are sending me some high powered LED for me to test on my batteries to see how bright those super bright (Luxeon LED) really are! These new LEDs need heat sink to cool down and should be very promising!

How much money did you spent in the 12W and 40W panels? I’ve made some research and I found that solar panels are very expensive. Not counting the batteries.

Now, do you need any kind of electrician knowledge to put all together (panels and several batteries?), or can be make with a simple set of instructions?

Will apreciate your “know how” on this because I’m really looking forward to get into that.

This is a cool post. Thanks. I’m building an off grid home and will have very low energy requiements. Part of that ivolves the use of LEDs (though a mix of different colors to create a more natural spectrum effect). I also have a design for turning a freezer into a refrigerator that uses only 100 watt hours per day. By doing these kinds of things, I will be able to get by with two PV panels and three storage batteries for the whole house. (I don’t need most of the appliances people in industrialized countries are used to).

Anyway, I’m glad you are doing these kinds of experiments and sharing them with your readers.

Hi, interest project you have there Simon! :)

To help build Singapore’s solar energy awareness, a solar energy community portal Solar Club HQ has been created.

I would be glad if you can join us and contribute to the discussions in the forums. Registration is free. :)
