I believe peak oil had passed & we are at the state where the world is trying to remedy the demand & find alternative supply of fuel or energy.

How in the world can we survive peak oil if every joule of food we eat especially meat need at least 5 joule of fossil fuel to bring to our plates.

From the crops that need fossil fuel to plough, irrigate, harvest, pesticides, fertilizers (natural gas) to transportation, freezing (electricity from either nuclear, hydro, coal or fossil fuel). The farm animals eat food from crops that doubles the amount of fossil fuel to raise a cow, cattle, pig or other animals we eat.

The mother nature is telling us to reduce down human population via natural disasters & food shortages...many will perish & when the final blow to human race is here we are probably not alive then.

I realized we should not be stressed about life, we should let go & relax. Do not get stressed over things we can't control and worry. The most important is don't get too engrossed about trying to convince anyone about peak oil.

When economy fails, demand drops the price of oil naturally will come down and wait for the next rise in oil price by another wave of up & collapses.

You should already know by now the market cannot go above certain limit otherwise the demand for resources will peak & someone will poke another bank to collapse & creating another economic crisis...yet again.

The economist will probably tied all the movement of market to any immediate figures of job losses, blame it on some banks trying to swindle the public on "good loans" or "guarantee investment" or "future planning insurance with risk".

Ultimately, when the crash comes the demand drops...people loses their homes get into serious debts...poor countries get into radical groups to blow themselves apart in crowded places.

The world is a massy place where we cannot control...the best is be prepared for anything & never judge anyone or anything but knowing you can survive the worst will be a comforting thought.

Be fit, strong, eat healthy food, reduce stress, research on sustainability solutions and green energy which is all the positive solutions to peak oil.

Do not get addicted to expensive habits (Smoking, Clubbing, Alcohol, women, drugs and gambling) and learn to relax your mind by doing some meditation (I'm trying to learn too) using soothing music.

Now you had learned about Peak Oil (exited the Matrix), focus on the positive side of it & don't try to save the world by yourself as nobody like to be controlled and human race is best left to their own choice to survive or die.

The few stages of peak oil awareness are below.

Shocked & in denial

Stressed with fears & paranoid

Acceptance & slowly appreciating life while we still can (my stage)

Confident of life & can survive without external help (self sustainability)

Many people are not aware that money is not everything as the more money you have the more responsibility you handle with higher stress you will get. However, in certain countries there are people who can survive without a single dollar on their back but doing everything from farming to enjoying a slow day at fishing.

For people like me, I'm addicted to technology hence it's hard to let go the addiction of money that give me the access of gadgets that can help in the world of self sustainability.

However, given enough knowledge in DIY technology...human can be sustainable easily.

Remember, with great knowledge comes great responsibility but if you can't convince people...save yourself first.

According to a special report from http://europebusines.blogspot.com/2010/08/special-post-life-on-this-earth-just.html that I had just read earnestly almost certainly confirm my suspicion of what the BP oil spill had already done.

The entire 'river of warm water' that flows from the Caribbean to the edges of Western Europe is dying due to the Corexit that the Obama Administration allowed BP to use to hide the scale of the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Disaster.

...The approximately two million gallons of Corexit, plus several million gallons of other dispersants, have caused the over two hundred million gallons of crude oil, that has gushed for months from the BP wellhead and nearby sites, to mostly sink to the bottom of the ocean

This effectively means, that even if we had the technology in place to somehow clean up the free flowing thick crude oil deep in the ocean, it would likely not be enough to reverse the damage to the Thermohaline Circulation System in the Atlantic Ocean.

Read the full story at http://europebusines.blogspot.com/2010/08/special-post-life-on-this-earth-just.html

Remember my post the possibility of the shutting down of the gulf stream by the BP Oil Spill? I guess my fears are coming true...with the recent news reports about early winter.

Europe is going into an early winter ~ link ~

early snow in Russia ~ link ~

Additionally, sea ice in the Antarctic is at near record levels ~ link ~

and coldest August in South Australia in 35 years ~ link ~

This is indicative of a major climatic change to the entire planet and is to be expected from the dying Thermohaline Circulation System in the Atlantic Ocean.

Lloyd's Warns of Perils Related to Electric Grid Transformer Failure

One source of such a powerful EMP is a terrorist attack using a nuclear bomb. "The electromagnetic pulse generated by a high altitude nuclear explosion is one of a small number of threats that can hold our society at risk of catastrophic consequences," according to a report prepared by the US's Critical National Infrastructures Commission in 2008. "Damage to or loss of these components could leave significant parts of the electrical infrastructure out of service for periods measured in months to a year or more."

The lack of readily available replacements "represents a glaring weakness in our survival and recovery to the extent these transformers are vulnerable," the Commission concluded.

Terrorist attacks aren't the only threat. Lloyd's cited the "famous 1859 geomagnetic storm, the Carrington Event, which was set off by a powerful solar flare that created an enormous electric charge that hit Earth. If it were to be repeated today it could cause between $1 trillion and $2 trillion of damage to our hi-tech infrastructure, said a study by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.

If you search this website for EMP attack or Solar Storm causing black out you can find a few such as Michio Kaku (Theoretical Physicist) talking about how EMP or Solar Geomagnetic Storm will wipe out the electric grid and MAY causing serious "Mad Max" scenario.

The black out can last for weeks or months causing serious hardship in the city area and the mass migration will begin it's disaster move towards the rural area causing mass looting & panic defending by farmers.

Many will die in the beginning until groups of survivals form cluster of strong hold to cooperate with each other to survive with urban farming & strict rationing with probably soldiers or mercenary defending the strong hold.

New laws may be written overriding the obsolete, corporations may fall overnight due to sudden lost of old laws to protect their patents & trademarks as survivals DIY their products from their own backyard for survival.

Repairs of the transformers will begin country wide at a slow pace inspecting all faulty wiring but may be costly which many countries cannot afford immediately.

The rest is up to your imagination, stock up some food immediately & prepare for anything.

The above video is one of the scariest video I have ever seen! This may means the capital letter "D" is approaching fast and quick.

Yes I'm talking about USA going into economic depression. However, I have no way of finding out if this map carry accurate data or if it's fake, anyone who have inside information do comment below.

Click here to view the embedded video.

This next video shows a analysis of the unemployment map vesus the (NASCO) North America's SuperCorridor Coalition might suggest that the New Madrid Fault may going to have Earthquakes? Well, to me it may simply by risk assessment business decision to avoid the New Madrid Fault instead of a conspiracy of being "behind it".

However, the Unemployment map shows a serious situation in United States that concerned me and this probably will eventually affect the world economy.

According to Middle East Online

CGES consultancy warns current oil prices will hamper global economic recovery, energy demand.

The above news is probably just a indication that they are happy with the current price as they can divert the investment on more complex but more efficient method of extracting oil from the ground or deep sea oil reserve.

However, the economy might not be able to handle such "high" prices and might suffer "economic earthquake" again if the oil prices goes up more than current prices between $70 to $80 per barrel.

The last time we seen the oil prices above the $100 per barrel mark, sub-prime market goes crazy causing some banks to go belly up screaming for "bail out" from uncle Sam.

Now, the oil prices depends on several factors below.

OPEC & none-OPEC crude oil output levels

Global economy

Global oil demand

Middle East Geopolitical events (e.g. war)

Natural disaster creating demand destruction

Iran unveiled a prototype long-range unmanned bomber today, the latest in a stream of announcements of new Iranian-made military hardware as tension mounts over its nuclear program.

This is totally unacceptable behavior from Iran since Iranian and Russian technicians began fuelling Iran's first nuclear power station a day back.

The Internet speculation probably are how the Israel will react to such unacceptable situation? This is almost like the Cuban Missile crisis whereas the missiles can be deployed by drones on moment's notice in great quantities and almost undetectable by radar due to their small sizes.

It's probably not over yet as Iran continue to announce more provocative news to "lure" a response from either Israel or United States or the United Nations to either declare more sanctions or activate preemptive doomsday strike on Iran.

What we can pray now is the people in power can find a way to resolve this crisis as the estimated 20% of the world oil supplies flows beside Iran at the Straits Of Hormuz which Iran can close the straits at moment's notice if they chose to.

Japanese Oil Tankers got attacked at the Straits of Hormuz recently by "terrorist" had been speculated to be either a false flag to "gather support" to start a war? Some even rumor that it's Iran who attack the Japanese tanker to show their capabilities to strike at moment notice.

The oil prices had been steady all these while due to the fact that the demand remains roughly stagnant in growth together with weak economy causing the price of NYMEX Crude oil to remains fluctuating between $67 to $86 per barrel steady now at $73.83.

Will there be another political crisis causing another spike in oil prices? IEA is predicting a 2.2% rise in global oil demand this year and continue to grow in 2011, this basing on the "economic recovery" of the European countries & developing countries but caution about short term prediction which may end up wrong in any geopolitical or environmental changes.

In event of war, the ultimate probability is a sudden stop of Internet activities (kill switch) and media blackout of events happening. People will be happily going on with their life not knowing that the world may be now fighting an senseless war somewhere in the world.

According to huffingtonpost.com

A University of Delaware researcher says the floating ice sheet covers 100 square miles – more than four times the size of New York's Manhattan Island.

According to AFP:

Greenpeace expected massive break-off from Greenland glacier

Environmental watchdog Greenpeace said Thursday it was expecting the disintegration of the Petermann glacier in north-western Greenland, from which a massive ice island four times the size of Manhattan broke off earlier this month.

"We had been expecting since last year that unavoidable break of the edge of the glacier, which we studied closely with an international team of researchers during an expedition in July and August 2009," Mads Flarup Christensen, who heads Greenpeace in the Nordic countries, told AFP.

I had written another post in simontay78.com that predicted the above might happen when Iceland volcano erupted.

It's definitely not clear yet how will this event affect the world sea level but it's clear now that the Earth's temperature had reach a level that huge glacier can break off and float off into the sea possibly melt & contribute to the world sea water.

I wondered about the if salinity of the sea will be affected by this as gradually the ice may change the sea salinity nearby changing the natural gulf stream conveyor belt causing huge changes in the weather.

Anyone dare to speculate about the cause of this event? some may says the following.

Global warming hence push for more carbon taxes $$$?

The sun is causing that due to the fact that CME are pretty rampant lately.

Seriously, the impact to the weather can be more flooding to bigger hurricane or bigger heat wave depending if the gulf stream conveyor belt affected or not.

The worst is the BIGGER chuck of the glacier breaking off from Greenland causing rise in global sea level, we probably have to discuss not if it will happen but WHEN it will happen.

For low coastal region, prepare for more rain to come & possible flash flooding, land slide and prepare some contingency food & water supply nearby in case such event happens.

There's no harm to prepare a 72 hours survival bag for the family & network the neighbors in case of such events to help each other out.

The thunderstorm was forecasted but nobody do any preparation or even warn the civilian to prepare.

There should be a nation wide warning of incoming flash flood & rain to prepare for it with sandbags & water pumps to fight flooding in low lying area to prevent flood damages

In a recent research called "RISK OF GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE BY BP OIL SPILL" from Italian scientists of Frascati National Laboratories (LNF) - National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) - AGI (Geophisical Italian Association) and CNR (National Council of Research) it show the evidence of a rapid Breaking of the Gulf Stream.

1. A place or location where NOBODY knows or get attention to.
2. Not placed in a forum full of survivalist with guns hmmm
3. Safest place mostly the most dangerous place..

Honestly, if everyone including the rich & poor goes out and SEEK out "The List of Best Survival Locations" you will have Hoards of people begging you to let them into your safe house just for "potato" or "water" and if you are alone...you will be overwhelmed by them & get murdered & the process will repeat until the fields are filled with corpses.

The world population is in the staggering numbers & let's say 1/10000th realized the danger of 2012 and rushed to buy land to "survive" .....all the land in the world will be used up within this century probably even the desert.

Let's think of it this way...if you can find a place where NOBODY will go for survival & you CAN manage to survive with your preparation or technology, MAYBE that will be a great PLACE to be.

Locations possible that rich people (with guns) won't go

1. The Desert - too hot, no coke, no possibility of survival for urban folks that did not prepare enough
2. City - People who are starving goes out of the city to seek food (Unless your city is under a fault line or flood plains ...bug out now)

Other places such as underground need lot's of money & preparation & secrecy which is hard to maintain, once your bug out place are discovered...it's as good as gone.

Weapons people may have to smoke you out
1. Smoke bomb - improvised or commercial or military grade
2. Fire - A little fire outside your bug out place can kill you via smoke inhalation
3. Heavy gun attack - Unless your safe house are solid steel all around, bullets can enter & ricochet everywhere
4. Vehicle door smasher or pull
5. Explosive - A little C4 with water bottle can blow your door open like matchsticks.
6. Improvised flame thrower - simple & easy to make, poke a hole in your house and spray

If you own a huge land, it's even harder to protect against hungry looters & attackers. It will probably feels more like zombie apocalypse.

The safest place will be the most dangerous place...go places where people DON'T WANT TO GO due to natural environment reasons.

Too hot, too cold, too dry, too wet, uncomfortable, impossible and get whatever things you can get to remedy those problems using renewable energy or otherwise.

Tactical camouflage, in urban places if you have 4 rooms hide a room door with a huge cupboard or something that will hide your location or stocks of food.

In rural area, hide your food underground best with tunnels system & special camouflage wall in the tunnel so that anyone who follows you in cannot find the stash of food but a exit instead.

Train your survivalist group the best you can with multiple kinds of skills, each to focus one type so they can cross train each other.

1. Medical - minor surgery, closing wounds, medication and etc
2. Personnel - recruiting, coordinating activities, allocating timetables
3. Weapon specialist - no matter if it's gun or knife or bow or arrow
4. Food - the cook
5. Sustainable Specialist - solar power/ wind power/ DIY electronic bicycle power / indoor food plantation
6. Communication Specialist - CB radio/ Ham Radio/ Cable Phones/ Signals/ Codes
7. Military Specialist - Camouflage, physical training, ghost walk, cover light sources, Observation post, combat

There are more I can think of but the above is just some of the things I know about but not yet implemented there might be more that can be added in the future.

The best is prepare early and become self sustainable asap but it's hard, remember your bug out place is secret so no one...NOBODY will raid your safe house because nobody knows that it is.
