North Korea Chicken out, while China Freeze with Coal Shortage

According to nz.news.yahoo.com

YEONPYEONG ISLAND, South Korea (AFP) – North Korea forswore retaliation against a South Korean live-fire drill and held out an olive branch over its nuclear drive, raising hopes for an easing to the region’s worst crisis in years.

The communist state said it “did not feel any need to retaliate against every despicable military provocation”, despite previously vowing a deadly riposte to the South’s drill on the border island of Yeonpyeong

According to news.yahoo.com

SHANGHAI – Communities in central and northern China are facing power cuts and rationing as winter coal supplies fall short of surging demand.

Cold weather and transport disruptions typically cause shortages most years, but the problem has been complicated by coal producers’ unhappiness over price controls that are crimping their profits.

The disruptions to supply appear to be worst in major coal producing regions such as Henan, where 40 percent of coal-fired power plants had fuel reserves equivalent to no more than three days of demand, according to a report on the State Grid’s website.

According to startribune.com

TOKYO – Asian stock markets rose Tuesday as tensions on the Korean peninsula eased a few notches.

Investors spent the previous day worried about possible North Korean retaliation against South Korean military drills on a frontline island that was shelled by the North last month.

Instead, Pyongyang backed off threats to strike back and reportedly offered concessions on its nuclear program.

All of the above are result of North Korea backing off any military retaliation in event of South Korea conducting of military exercises.

I think either China had finally pressured North Korea down or given North Korea sufficient aid to “calm down” while both country now suffer one of the harshest winters in the coming days.

Could this event is a simple begging for humanitarian aid by bad boy North Korea using the usual hostage situation to blackmail the region into negotiation & resume more “6 party talk” which may means exchanging of food for nuclear disarmament.

However, if China & South Korea cannot help North Korea in the future…due to unforeseen circumstances…will North Korea really carry out their threats?

Let’s pray they will not, politics & the strategy of conflict negotiation is a very complex chess game that not many countries can decipher North Korea’s next move.

South Korea just ended their military exercise, balls in North Korea’s court

According to theglobeandmail.com

South Korea fired live artillery Monday in a drill from a front-line island where similar exercises sparked a deadly North Korean bombardment last month, pressing forward in defiance of the North’s warnings to attack again.

However, a few hours earlier, according to CNN:

North Korea has agreed to a series of actions, including the return of U.N. inspectors, following discussions with Bill Richardson, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer said Monday.

It seems that North Korea had already tried very hard not to go into war by agreeing to the return of the U.N. nuclear inspectors however its seems to be too late as the South Korea’s military exercise had already started.

Now that the military exercise had stopped, the ball is now in North Korea’s court to see if they play ball to their “threats”.

Option 1, North Korea don’t do any more provocation & get subdued into U.N. inspectors
Option 2, North Korea revoke previous agreement & banish any hope of U.N. inspectors to enter North Korea and began artillery retaliation with full Nuclear options on the table.

It’s obvious that option 2 don’t have much benefit to North Korea unless they shoot missiles that “drops” into the sea & claim to be their own “military exercise”.

However, any military movement now can easily sparks a full fledged war from the South Korea & USA too if any of North Korea’s military exercise suffer from any kind of “accidents”.

It seems now it’s almost inevitable to have a war & should focus on the consequences in event a war to start and that must take into account on how far & wide this war will spread.

The problem now is how North Korea will retaliate and where and how.

Conventional war is already outdated and that may means either NBC (Nuclear, Biological or Chemical) war or cyberwar but I do not know if cyberwar can do any damage to North Korea.

However, we cannot rule out the possibility of a standard conventional war first before using the NBC options which may have lot’s of collateral damage.

Another option is High Altitude Nuclear Blast to send multiple EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) down to North Korea disabling most electronics & hopefully their nuclear capabilities without high collateral damages.

However, this may means bringing North Korea into the dark ages where electrical appliances will cease functioning to most of their country creating a humanitarian crisis.

North Korea’s military may use terrorist attack option to activate terrorist cell(s) in “enemy’s” countries & start NBC attack at there or even start to send smaller yield nuclear warhead towards South Korea via artillery or ICBM missiles.

China will have their hands full accepting refugees from both North Korea & South Korea and if North Korea happen to lose the war…or on the verge of losing …China may enter the war again as China may not want an USA allies to be at China’s border.

Let’s pray that the above scenario don’t happen as there will be loads of casualty of war.

FULL text of President Lee’s speech

Fellow Koreans,

Today, I am standing here keenly aware that I am responsible for not having been able to protect the lives and property of the people. I understand very well that you were greatly disappointed with how we responded to the shelling of Yeonpyeongdo (Yeonpyeong Island) by North Korea.

I feel enormous frustration and regret over the fact that innocent lives were lost and the homes and livelihood of the islanders were devastated.

I pray for the repose of the souls of Staff Sergeant Seo Jung-woo and Lance Corporal Moon Kwang-wook as well as the two civilian casualties-Mr. Kim Chi-baek and Mr. Bae Bok-chul. I also once again extend my heartfelt condolences to their families. I hope that those who were injured will recover quickly. I promise to urgently come up with the comprehensive measures to help the islanders of Yeonpyeongdo.

Fellow citizens,
North Korea’s provocation this time was entirely different and unprecedented in nature. Since the end of the Korean War, the North has perpetrated numerous provocations, but it has never launched a direct attack onto our territory before. Making matters worse, it indiscriminately shelled the island where some 1,400 residents are peacefully living.

A military attack against civilians is strictly prohibited even in time of war; it is a crime against humanity.

Only a few meters away from where shells landed, there is a school where classes were going on. I am outraged by the ruthlessness of the North Korean regime, which is even indifferent to the lives of little children.
Countries around the world are joining us in denouncing North Korea.

We have thus far tolerated provocations by the North time and again. On January 21, 1968, North Korean commandos infiltrated into Seoul with the intent of killing the President. A bomb explosion in Rangoon, Burma, set off by North Korean agents, killed many high-ranking South Korean Government officials who were accompanying the President. The North has already tried and failed twice to kill the South Korean head of state. North Korean agents blew up a civilian airplane in 1987, taking the lives of 115 passengers.

South Korea nonetheless endured these continual provocations because we entertained a slight hope that the North would change course someday and an unwavering commitment to peace on the Korean Peninsula. Over the past 20 years, therefore, South Korea has striven to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue through dialogue and collaboration while at the same time providing unstinted humanitarian assistance.

North Korea, on the other hand, responded with a series of provocative acts, including the development of a nuclear program, the sinking of the Navy corvette Cheonan by an explosion and the shelling of Yeonpyeongdo.

At long last, we came to a realization that it no longer makes sense for us to anticipate that the North would abandon its nuclear program or its policy of brinkmanship on its own. The South Korean people now unequivocally understand that prolonged endurance and tolerance will spawn nothing but more serious provocations.

Those who have so far supported the North Korean regime might now see its true colors.

We are aware of the historic lesson that a disgraceful peace achieved through intimidation only brings about greater harm in the end. Only courage that defies retreat under any threat or provocation will bring about genuine peace. If the North commits any additional provocations against the South, we will make sure that it pays a dear price without fail.

I have confidence in the courage and potential of the citizens of Korea. We are a great people who, as of this year, have built the world’s seventh largest export powerhouse in the face of the North’s incessant menace and belligerence. In the current national crisis situation, the Korean people have demonstrated patriotism and composure.

Many young men and women went to the wake of the young soldiers who were killed in action. Citizens have volunteered to collect donations and have gone about their business with fortitude. The Republic of Korea is going to be safe and sound because of you.

There was a split in public opinion over the torpedoing of the Cheonan. Unlike that time, our people have united as one this time. Amid such unity and determination, any surreptitious attempt to create divisiveness in the nation will have no chance of success. Along with all the citizens of the Republic, I will never retreat.

The international community, too, is supporting us. Leaders of the United States, Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom as well as Russia and many other countries condemned the act of brutality by the North and are standing in full support of our position. Especially, as our ally, the United States has demonstrated a strong resolve to respond by taking action.

Fellow Koreans,
The courageous members of our Armed Forces have fought well. Some soldiers dashed to fulfill their duties without even noticing that the camouflage on their helmets had caught fire in the barrage of live shells. Those who were on leave of absence promptly returned to their units.

Citizens of Korea,
From now on, the Government will do whatever is required of it without fail.

The Government will establish Armed Forces that live up to their name. We will defend the five West Sea Islands near the northern sea border with a watertight stance against any kind of provocation. We will proactively carry out the defense reform as planned in order to make our Armed Forces even stronger.

Fellow Koreans,

Now is the time we have to demonstrate our determination with actions rather than many words.

I plead with you to have confidence in the Government and the Armed Forces and rally around our cause.

Unity is the best national security measure.

Thank you very much.

The above words is definitely more harsh then the speech on May 24 2010 when North Korea sinks The Cheonan.

The previous speech stills asked North Korea for apology and will investigate the incident but the latest speech had set the tone of final warning towards North Korea.

This means South Korea might no longer sit still anymore in any event of another unprovoked attack from North Korea.

This may means a high chance of a declaration of war in the coming days or weeks if North Korea is crazy enough to attack again.

China, on the other hand request all the countries involved in the nuclear talks with North Korea to hold an emergency talk.

It was unclear whether China was calling for a resumption of the talks on North Korea’s nuclear program or inviting the countries involved in those talks — China, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Russia, and the United States — to discuss North Korea’s recent actions.

However, it seems clear that if war breaks out it’s going to involve many countries to clean up the mess especially North Korea had revealed to public that they have nuclear enrichment facilities.

Personally, I felt that North Korea maybe in a situation that they want attention from the world yet unable to get their attention…and this time round it’s definitely got everyone’s attention!

it will be interesting what the North Korean representative says during the emergency meeting and the final conclusion of the talks.

I think it’s time to unite both Korea in a way similar to the fall of the Berlin wall, there must be a way to influence the people of North Korea so much that they can eventually change their government to push towards unification.

This may be against the wishes of other North Korea’s allies but it’s for the peace & prosperity of Korea as an whole and also th e rest of the world as well.

However, if a major war breaks out…the world might get affected once again. Let’s pray that if it happens, it will not involve China and other major countries as it will be another world war.

If North Korea fights Other countries, let North Korea defend themselves…China please stay out of the fight if possible otherwise many countries may be involved causing a much bigger conflict.

Let’s us pray it will not come to this.

Israel primed to strike Iran nuclear sites, says report

Prepare for the real holocaust!

Prepare for the real holocaust!

According to Channelnewsasia:

LONDON : Israel’s military is preparing so it could launch major aerial attacks on Iranian nuclear sites if ordered to by the new government, a British newspaper said on Saturday, quoting Israeli defence and intelligence sources.

“Israel wants to know that if its forces were given the green light, they could strike at Iran in a matter of days, even hours,” an unnamed senior defence official told The Times.

“They are making preparations on every level for this eventuality. The message to Iran is that the threat is not just words.”

Slight Increase In Oil

Slight Increase In Oil

While the Sabre rattling continues, oil prices inched up a little on last Friday not sure if it’s due to the above report or the “rumor” of possible strike on Iran causing the “roller coaster” wave of oil price recently.

The finger might be the positive US earnings which gave many “analyst” that tingling feeling to indicate this as the cause of oil price to spike 35 cents on Friday but obviously it’s just too early to know if it’s a technical rebound or just another “wave” of speculative movement by big players worldwide.

While all these are pure speculations as you can see from the “volume” of last Friday shown in the chart on the left is clearly lower then normal making the high spike another technical rebound by small number of high rollers or investors.

In further gloomy news on Wednesday, OPEC cut its estimate for world crude demand again, arguing that a “devastating contraction” in consumption would keep prices under pressure in the months ahead.

OPEC estimated that demand would contract by 1.37 million bpd or 1.6 percent in 2009.

The 12-nation cartel, which pumps 40 percent of world oil supplies, holds its next production meeting in Vienna on May 28.

This means OPEC might actually decide to “CUT” production on May 28 …that may have a big impact on the oil price indeed or will they do the houdini trick again by canceling the cut just like the last meeting?

Maybe as the new government of Israel decided that the time is right….a future preemptive strike on Iran….may cause oil to goes sky high and world to collapse into pure anarchy.

Israel tests Arrow ballistic missile interceptor

According to Yahoo!News & Channelnewsasia:

ERUSALEM (AFP) – - Israel on Tuesday tested its Arrow ballistic missile interception system, a costly project launched two decades ago aimed at countering strikes mainly from archfoe Iran.

The Arrow (Hetz in Hebrew) intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile similar to Iran’s Shahab-3 which can reach Israel. The missile was fired by an Israeli fighter plane over the Mediterranean, a defence official said.

“This morning, the Arrow system performed a successful test,” the defence ministry said in a statement.

“The success of the project marks a key step in its development plan and the improvement of the operational systems to offer a response to the growing threat of ballistic missiles in the region.”

- What’s is going on here, do Israel want to provoke an action from Iran or it’s just a show of “ability” to shoot down any incoming ballistic missile from Iran?

Apparently Iran’s buddy North Korea had successfully tested a longer range rocket that supposedly “sent” a satellite into space…and probably with the new information declared by the public media…North Korea can now easily begin their nice little private “auction” on the missile design or trade it in exchange with other country such as Iran.

Now that Obama just slapped 6 Iranian firms with “sanctions” for trying to acquire some kind of “unconventional weapons” which may possibly belong towards “weapons of deadly consequences”…many can imagine what exactly are those “unconventional weapons”.

Let me list out some possible suspects

  1. Electric “non-deadly” weapon?
  2. Sonic high frequencies “brain vibrator”?
  3. Super lethal Chemical/Biological/Nuclear weapons?
  4. Made In China weapons?
  5. A super spy?

Of course all other suspects may be included in the television series “future weapons”…but what exactly does Iran wants? This probably may be a taboo topic hence not much was revealed in the media….for now.

Defiant North fires rocket

Obama leads global condemnation; Security Council to meet Monday

SEOUL/TOKYO – BRUSHING aside warnings from the international community, North Korea launched a long-range rocket yesterday, putting another wrinkle into efforts to denuclearise the North and raising tensions in the region.

The rocket hurtled over Japan within seven minutes of liftoff at 11.20am local time from the North’s north-east coast.

For some tense moments, Japan’s military, which had been given authority to shoot down any threat to its soil, watched the rocket fly through its territory. North Korea had warned that any attempt to block its launch or intercept the rocket would be tantamount to war.

The rocket traced out its predicted flight path, dumping its first stage booster – the engine – into the ocean 280km west of Japan, and its second booster 1,270km in the Pacific Ocean east of the Japanese coast.

Four hours after the launch, Pyongyang declared it a success.

‘The satellite is orbiting Earth and transmitting the melodies of the immortal revolutionary paeans Song Of General Kim Il Sung and Song Of General Kim Jong Il, as well as measurement data back to Earth,’ the state-run Korean Central News Agency said, referring to praise music for North Korea’s late founder and his son, its current leader.

But the US military said that no object entered orbit. The final two stages of the rocket and its payload – the part carrying the satellite – landed in the Pacific Ocean, according to North American Aerospace Defence Command and US Northern Command officials.

Words Must Mean Something

Words Must Mean Something

- this means either the N.Korea knew about it’s satellite failure but success on testing the range if a longer range missile.

Cloak and dagger scenairo here, even the press dare not leak any information if the missile was shot down or not.

The problems is KoRea had threaten war if the ‘Satelite’ is shot down.

Obama had just got his first taste of serious threat of global poportion, what will he and his advisors decide to do to punish north Korea?

Does it means more economic sanctions which obviously did not work previously or international condemation or military actions?

Time will tell…

Israel Sabre Rattling Against Iran, Oil Goes Up?

According to Press TV:

Israeli army ordered to devise Iran war

As Israeli talks of war on Iran gain momentum, Israel’s military Chief of Staff says the army must prepare for a military aggression.

In a meeting with top US diplomats on Monday, Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi said Israel could not live with a nuclear Iran and that an Israeli military strike was a “serious” option in retarding the country’s progress.

Ashkenazi — whose request to meet with President Barack Obama and his American counterpart Admiral Mike Mullen was turned down — made the remarks in a meeting with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her designated US envoy to the Persian Gulf, Dennis Ross.

The Israeli general and the American hosts discussed the Iranian issue shortly after reports revealed that the Israeli Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu plans a “major military confrontation” in the next few months.

- Light Nymex WTI Crude Oil went up today to be above $48 as per predicted on the up trend.

Oil Spike 18th March 2009

Oil Spike 18th March 2009

The reason behind this may be other than the effects of the previous OPEC supply cut but also the fear of a new middle east conflict to brew into action in the next few months.

Non-OPEC countries such as Russia had planned to buy back some of their own oil as reserve to counter the current low oil price problem.

The threat of lower oil prices to the big oil industry IS very destructive to future oil supply level as many projects had been scaled down & exploration budget cut with multiple layoff of workers for non-conventional oil projects.

The future curve of oil supply may be downwards causing a “virtual” & probably irreversible trend of global declining of oil supply that may cause more economic hardships for many countries especially those third world countries.

The future revolution may be the beginning of sustainable cities to be constructed from scratch and major population may move in on moment notice.

NKorea puts military on full combat alert!

According to Yahoo!News:

SEOUL (AFP) – - North Korea put its military on full combat alert as US and South Korean troops began a major joint exercise on Monday.

Pyongyang also warned that any attempt to block its upcoming satellite launch would spark a war.

The communist state also severed its last communications channel with South Korea for the duration of the 12-day exercise, which Pyongyang has branded a rehearsal for invasion.

Last week the North threatened South Korean civilian airlines using its airspace, forcing them to re-route flights.

The North Korean military described the exercise as “unprecedented in the number of the aggressor forces involved and in duration.”

- Red Alert! North Korea is on another brink of war which may affect neighboring regions, if USA & Japan shoots down NKorea’s ‘satellite’ from the sky…it will mean that North Korea will wage a total war against ‘aggressors’.

We have to be reminded that North Korea have the Atom Bomb or Nuclear Bomb that can totally annihilate millions of people in an instant or simply explode nuke in mid air to send extremely strong EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) downwards causing all exposed electronics to cease functioning…which means a city wide long term black out, knock out thousands of modern vehicles that have a chip inside their cars, majority of all communication devices will be dead such as mobile phones, radio, television and walkies talkies.

This news may be the last news you ever read about if you in the range or North Korea’s ‘satellite’ path…or North Korea is gambling that US or Japan will shoot it down and lure them into a conflict that have global implications.

This event coincides with Iran testing of their air-to-sea missiles which spells ominous coincidence or sheer logical to think both events were linked.

Faked Missiles But Looks Really Dangerous!

TEHRAN – Iran said on Sunday it “successfully” tested a new air-to-sea missile with a range of 110 kilometres (68 miles), the Fars new agency reported. It did not say when the test was conducted.

“Iranian defence specialists are able to successfully install missiles with a range of 110 kilometres on fighter planes and launch them,” the report said, adding that the high-precision weapon weighs about 500 kilos.

The report said the latest test showed the Islamic republic’s “ability to automatically direct the missile and carry warheads to destroy large targets at sea.”

This means Iran is ready for the final showdown with short range and long range missiles for any event of any preemptive attack by anyone….

Or they are ready to blockade the Straits Of Hormuz to raise the oil prices?

There might be lot’s of speculation that Israel may attack Iran but it seems that the dateline had been changed many times to confuse the enemy or simply just a result of internal conflicts.

Regardless, Iran is currently preparing for the possible conflict in the near future…but it seems that Israel might be going alone for now….unless Iran do something really serious to the rest of the world….that cannot be forgiven.

Currently, oil prices is on the rise probably due to a weaker dollar…it may continue to rise until 15 of march where it will either spike or dip depending on many factors.
